17 French people were killed in terrosist attacks in France this week and the world stood still. Today, hundreds of thousands of people including over 50 presidents from around the world attended a Republican march in Paris to honour the victims.

French people came out in thousands on the streets in several big French cities between Saturday and Sunday to condemn the horrible acts of the terrorists. They carried sign boards, wore "Je suis Charlie" T-shirts, shouted "JesuisCharlie" and called the victims "heroes".

The whole world mourned : we know the names of the victims, we know what they did for a living, their marital status, #JesuisCharlie was created to honour the victims and protest against barbaric acts of the terrorists, several presidents all over the world condemned the attacks, several newpapers all around the world dedicated their front cover page in memory of the victims.

But somewhere in Nigeria, the story is different. Baga is faraway and the victims are poor and black.

Boko Haram killed more than 2,000 people in Baga and 16 villages around it between the 6th and 9th of January. The terrorist group have killed more people than they killed in 2014 in a single attack which lasted 4 days. Residents have fled to Niger, Chad and Cameroon. Many were said to have drowned in Lake Chad while attempting to swim to a nearby island. Some died from lack of food, cold and malaria on the mosquito-infested island.

The Nigerian president is yet to address the genocide. His niece got married this weekend in Abuja. Former president Olusegun Obasanjo was at the wedding and so was Femi Otedola and Aliko Dangote, two of the richest men in  Nigeria.

No condemnation, no protest, no hashtag, no republican march, just silence...
